  1. The pilot sits in a harness suspended below a fabric wing consisting of a large number of interconnected baffled cells.
  2. The history of how this sport came to be can be traced all the way back to WWI.
  3. The first paragliding world championship was held in Kssen, Austria in 1989.
  4. The world's oldest paraglider recorded in the Guinness World Book of Records is Baruch Gurwitz at 77 years old.
  5. The biggest paragliding wing has a wingspan of 66 feet and can carry a load of 1300 pounds. It was used to drop an Audi A6 All road vehicle from a Lama heavy-lift helicopter.
