History : 5 things you didn't know about Alan Turing

 

1. Turing built a machine called The Bombe along with fellow mathematician Gordon Welchman which could break the enigma code.
2. He was a British pioneering computer scientist, mathematician, logician, cryptanalyst, philosopher, mathematical biologist, and marathon and ultra distance runner.
3. He had a mug chained to the radiator in Hut 8 during his time at Bletchley Park to stop others from using it. 
4. Steve Jobs wished the Apple logo was a homage to Turing.
5. Turing almost qualified for the 1948 Olympic marathon.
