History : 5 things you didn't know about Tipu Sultan
- Tipu was born in Mysore in 1749. His real name is
supposed to be Fateh Ali Tipu, after the great saint Tipu Mastan.
- Tipu was made the Sultan of
Mysore in 1782. He vowed not sleep on a bed until he had driven the
British off Indian soil.
- He made peace with the British in 1784.The peace was short lived.
- In 1798, Tipu signed a secret agreement with Napolean.
- May 5, 1799, Tipu was killed by Britishers. He and his 4 bodyguards killed 4,500 british soldiers.
