History : 5 things you didn't know about Tipu Sultan

  1. Tipu was born in Mysore in 1749. His real name is supposed to be Fateh Ali Tipu, after the great saint Tipu Mastan.
  2. Tipu was made the Sultan of Mysore in 1782. He vowed not sleep on a bed until he had driven the British off Indian soil.
  3. He made peace with the British in 1784.The peace was short lived.
  4. In 1798, Tipu signed a secret agreement with Napolean.
  5. May 5, 1799, Tipu was killed by Britishers. He and his 4 bodyguards killed 4,500 british soldiers.
