Random : 5 things you didn't know about Oil Pastels

  1. Oil pastels consist of pigment mixed with a non-drying oil and wax binder.
  2. They do not dry by oxidation, they harden over time.
  3. Almost any surface will work for an oil pastel substrate- canvas, wood panel, paper etc.
  4. They become soft at a temperature of 80 and above.
  5. Paper towels or a hand towel are used for wiping off messy sticks.
